A Place to Live

Published shortly before his death, this collection explores perspectives of old age with all the wit and vitality you'd expect from such a widely acclaimed poet. Unusually, the letterpress text features initial capitals decorated in a second colour and a portrait of the poet forms the frontispiece. The title page has our traditional fresh garland.

‘At last, from a distance,
     he hears the slow-swelling
 hum of an engine,
     then twin light-beams sway
 and interrogate darkness
     before the bus follows
 and swings round the corner
     with its warming display
 of bright amber windows’
