Bees on honeycomb

Matting Paste Recipe

For Linseed-Oil Based Inks

Stick of beeswax
Real turpentine
Jar with a tight fitting lid
Cheese grater
Lolly stick or similar to stir

Serves: 4-10 jobs, Preparation time: 2 - 3 days

Grate some of the beeswax into the jar. Add a tiny splash of turpentine and mix well. Leave over night. Mix again and check for consistency, you're aiming for something similar to ink or stiff toothpaste. If it's too thick, add another splash of turpentine and leave for another night.

Make sure it's mixed really well you don't want lumps in your ink! A little bit goes a long way. If you use too much, it will affect the drying process. It should never account for more than 5% (by volume) of the mixed ink, and 2% is usually sufficient.
